Brahmana tua Brahmāyu mengirim muridnya memeriksa tiga puluh dua ciri manusia agung pada tubuh Buddha. Setelah melihat perilaku dan mendengar ajaran-Nya, Brahmāyu sendiri datang, memperoleh keyakinan, dan menerima pengajaran bertahap. Inilah Brahmāyu Sutta.

mn91:37.1 “Excellent, worthy Gotama! Excellent!

mn91:37.2 As if he were righting the overturned, or revealing the hidden, or pointing out the path to the lost, or lighting a lamp in the dark so people with clear eyes can see what’s there, worthy Gotama has made the teaching clear in many ways.

mn91:37.3 I go for refuge to the worthy Gotama, to the teaching, and to the mendicant Saṅgha.

mn91:37.4 From this day forth, may the worthy Gotama remember me as a lay follower who has gone for refuge for life.

mn91:37.5 Would you and the mendicant Saṅgha please accept tomorrow’s meal from me?”

mn91:37.6 The Buddha consented with silence.

mn91:37.7 Then, knowing that the Buddha had consented, Brahmāyu rose from his seat, bowed, and respectfully circled the Buddha, keeping him on his right, before leaving.
